Salvation Message Visual Aid for Preschoolers

Easy way to show-and-tell preschoolers how to be saved using visual aids: Pictures of multicultural children, a cross, and clouds and words to represent heaven. It's explained in an easy way for preschoolers to understand what sin is, and how God has no sin, and Jesus is the way to heaven. Free Instructions - How to Make Your Own Tomb out of a Cardboard Box - Printable version of the tomb instructions

These instructions are for an adult to make a tomb out of a box to use as a visual aid to tell the story of Jesus’ resurrection to children with Bible Stand-up Characters. Three steps! (It’s not really super quick and easy, but you’ll get there).

Supplies Needed to Make 3D Tomb for Children's Play Set or Visual Aid for the Story of Jesus' Resurrection

Cardboard box (the sample is 10 X 7" X 8" deep)

Clear packing tape

Old newspaper, magazines or paper shred

Strips of Muslin fabric

Plastic grocery bag

1 yd or gray or brown 'stone' or 'gravel' fabric OR stone-texture scrapbook paper

Craft Knife or safety cutting tool

Standup Bible Characters, See free ones

Photos of Tomb How to Make 3D Tomb:
Step 1 photo of Make-My-Own Tomb craft

Step 1 – Cut Box: Cut bottom off box (It will be easier if its off). Draw tombstone shape on the front. Carefully cut out stone shape. Save. Stuff: Scrunch up paper wads and fill plastic bag. Make it big enough to cover most of top of box. Lay aside.

Step 2 – Cut Fabric: Lay box on its back side. Lay fabric on top. Cut slits up to the rounded stone shape all along the edges. Cut another piece of fabric big enough to cover stone piece.

Step 3 – Tape and Stuff: With box still on its back, tape slit pieces to the back of the inside of the box to make tomb entrance. Put box right side up. Position bag with paper wads on top of tomb. Begin taping fabric to back of box. Stuff sides of box with more paper wads. Tape fabric to inside of box and back of box. Cover stone with fabric by laying fabric on front, pulling fabric to back and taping to the back.

Tip – If you don’t like how your tomb looks, just remove the tape and re-position the paper wads, pulling the fabric to hold it in place and re-tape**

Idea for Stone Paper Tomb: Smash in, or cut off, the box corners. Use the stone texture scrapbook paper to cover your tomb. I would do the sides first, taping to the front. Then for the front sheet, trace the stone on a sheet, making sure its in the right place to ensure that it will cover the top and sides of the front. Cut out stone shape and use that to cover your stone, Tape or staple sheets in place. Please note: This is just an idea. It has not been tried yet.

There are lots of fun activities to help children understand the Garden of Gethsemane lesson such as Pretend Play activities they do during the lesson, as well as a Warm-up Activity: Putting together puzzles that you make using the story pictures. The instructions are on the Activities Page. There is also a fun, encouraging action that has hand motions (finger play) that sums up the main points of the Bible stories of Judas' betrayal of Jesus and Peter denying the Lord three times. The lesson doesn't stop there though. It tells children the happy ending of how Jesus forgave Peter, prayed for him, and how God made Peter's faith strong. Then Peter prached the gospel and won many souls for Christ. (But kid-language is used in the lesson). There are also instructions for a fun Disciples Match Game on the Activities Page. There are also instructions for how to make the paper silver coins by printing our tamplate on to silver card stock or just color them using silver glitter crayons or silver metallic crayons. You can also use the pattern to cut the coins out of silver wrapping paper or scrapbookkeeping paper.

How to use the Easter Scene Standups:

Bible Lesson: Use the Standups to re-tell the story of Jesus’ resurrection. Use one of the Sunday school lessons on Bible Kids Fun Zone about Jesus’ resurrection. (The new, updated Best Miracle lesson tells you specifically how to use the stand-up characters to let the children participate), or read the story from a children’s bible. Since there are only two women, use the gospel of Matthew (Matthew 28:1-10). Play Activity: Children can play with the bible characters and use them to act out the story as they tell it in their own words.

Easter Bible Crafts for Children: Use the Easter Scene Standups for a large group craft activity for the whole class. Let each child color one piece.

Easter Family Activity: Another option is to use the Bible character Stand-ups as a family activity to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. Use it during your family devotions or Bible story time as a visual aid for children.

Customer testimonial: I have been hunting all over the Internet without success for an empty tomb and the one on your BKFZ site is absolutely perfect! It is so life-like! I have printed it off in colour along with Mary and the angel and it will make the most fantastic bulletin board display! My kiddies are very young and very slow and I doubt theirs (from the Sunday School site) will be ready until after Easter so this one can be up for all to see! Plenty of people from my church have been excited to see my tables laid out ready for action, and last Sunday one of my kiddies pulled her Mum right into the room to show her what she would be doing in the lesson. That was great because none of the family are Christians so it was a real means of evangelism! Blessings, C.More

Intro main point: We all sin.
Give examples using humor, skits, or whatever.
Romans 3:23 http://www.biblica.com/en-us/bible/online-bible/niv/romans/3/
First go through the story of Jesus' arrest, questioning, beating, death on the cross, using one
of the gospels.

Main Points to bring out:
1. The second thief believed Jesus was the Son of God. When he said to the first: " But this man
has done nothing wrong." that would mean he knew he was God. Who else does nothing wrong, but
God? He knew Jesus was the 'coming Messiah" and was dying for his sins. Who else would die
unjustly but a Savior? He also said "when you come into your kingdom" which means he knew he was
God. No earthly king rules when he is on earth. Only Jesus could rule after he died (and went to
heaven).

2. He was repentant. He admitted to Jesus (and the other thief on the cross) that he was a sinner,
and that he deserved to die for his sin.

3. He asked Jesus to save him. When he said, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom,
he was asking Jesus to save him, which means he believed that Jesus had the power to save him,
and he was humble enough to ask.
Message of Salvation is Seen in Jesus' Response to the Thief on the Cross

4. Jesus promised him he would be with him in paradise that day. So we see that Jesus did save
him. We see the beautiful picture of God's grace, even while he is being punished for the sins of all of
us, even while it is happening and he has already been beaten and mocked, (having gone through
intense emotional abuse about his identity and false accusations) and searing physical pain -- his flesh
torn and when he is experiencing intense pain for us and taking upon the spiritual separation from God
that would've been even more painful (spiritually).

5. Jesus is our High Priest. Luke 23:45 The curtain in the temple was torn into two, from top to
bottom. The place where the priest would go to make sacrifices for the people's sins. God
miraculously tore down, literally, the separation between God and man when Jesus died on the cross.
Hebrews 4:14-16. Explain how Jesus is now our high priest and he made a way for us to go directly to
God, now that Jesus took care of our sin problem at Calvary.

6. The Take-away: God gives each of us a choice:
Ask, How about you? We are all sinners (verse). Will you be like the criminal who laughs at the
possibility of a loving God being the sacrifice for the people he made? Or will you believe and accept
God's free gift of salvation?

7. Encouragement. Go through Jesus' resurrection and ascension. Jesus didn't stay in the
grave. See scripture tie-ins you could use below.
Scripture Tie-Ins There are many verses that you could use to tie it all together. A few:

Jesus provided purification for sins.
Hebrews 1:3
