All of our lessons are for ages 2-5 (One lesson for ages 4-5, and an adapted, simplified lesson for ages 2-3). Toddlers (age 2-3 for our purposes) probably won't get all the concepts of the salvation message for preschoolers, but it will introduce them and eventually it willl 'gel' for them, and they'll get it.

Each Bible Kids Fun Zone lesson download contains the whole lesson (what to say -- bible concepts, intro, interaction to help children participate, rhymes, Talk Time, etc., not just the lesson plan).

Photos of Tomb How to Make 3D Tomb:
Step 1 photo of Make-My-Own Tomb craft

Step 1 – Cut Box: Cut bottom off box (It will be easier if its off). Draw tombstone shape on the front. Carefully cut out stone shape. Save. Stuff: Scrunch up paper wads and fill plastic bag. Make it big enough to cover most of top of box. Lay aside.

Step 2 – Cut Fabric: Lay box on its back side. Lay fabric on top. Cut slits up to the rounded stone shape all along the edges. Cut another piece of fabric big enough to cover stone piece.

Step 3 – Tape and Stuff: With box still on its back, tape slit pieces to the back of the inside of the box to make tomb entrance. Put box right side up. Position bag with paper wads on top of tomb. Begin taping fabric to back of box.

Step 4 - Stuff sides of box with more paper wads. Tape fabric to inside of box and back of box. Cover stone with fabric by laying fabric on front, pulling fabric to back and taping to the back.

Tip – If you don’t like how your tomb looks, just remove the tape and re-position the paper wads, pulling the fabric to hold it in place and re-tape**

Idea for Stone Paper Tomb: Smash in, or cut off, the box corners. Use the stone texture scrapbook paper to cover your tomb. I would do the sides first, taping to the front. Then for the front sheet, trace the stone on a sheet, making sure its in the right place to ensure that it will cover the top and sides of the front. Cut out stone shape and use that to cover your stone, Tape or staple sheets in place. (Please note: The paper-covered box is just an idea. It has not been tried yet).

New Life in Christ Jesus Preschool Lesson

This important lesson about Jesus' resurection and appearance gives children the bigger overview about Jesus: Who Jesus is, his life ministry, why he came, and that he showed up and showed people his hands and feet). It also contains the gospel and salvation message in it, in a simple way for young children to understand it. The key verse for this lesson is 2 Corinthians 5:17 - about how there is new life in the Lord Jesus. It's explained to children with the New Life object lesson using the visual aids provided: the New Life Caterpillar/Cocoon Craft and New Life Butterfly puppet. These crafts come in black-and-white and in color, so can make the visual aids quickly. They're in bright "happy" colors that capture children's attention. (See below). Parts of the story are told in rhyming verse, as well.

The lesson begins with telling a little key points about who Jesus is, and about his life ministry and how people loved him and followed after him. The story of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection is then reviewed, using the pictures from Best Miracles Resurrection lesson. Children get to participate by opening and closing the tomb and flying the angel. Pictures are provided for you to use as visual aids. The story of how Jesus appeared to the disciples and showed them the wounds on his hands and feet is also quickly reviewed.

Talk Time begins with the Object Lesson using the caterpillar and butterfly crafts. Children "help" you tell this part also by inserting the caterpillar into the cocoon and pulling out the butterfly. Time is taken to make sure each child and person in the room knows that Jesus died for everyone, even them. Using simple words preschoolers can understand, an explanation of what sin is, and how they can be saved is given also, and a sample prayer.

If that wasn't enough activities, there are 7 snack ideas for this lesson, three Warm-up Activities (New Life puzzles in black-and-white and color are provided for you to use), and a Rhyme with Actions. Kids can participate in the hand motions for each verse. But the important thing is: when they are participating in the activities, they are getting another review of the important concepts of the lesson; and when they participate it helps them remember because their minds, as well as their body, is involved, which makes it easier for kids to pay attendion without getting distracted.

The crafts for this New Life lesson include a Butterfly Puppet craft, a Caterpillar/Cocoon craft for kids, two New Life puzzles in color (purple and teal) and two New Life puzzles in black-and-white for kids to color, and a 3D Cross Craft with Pop-up pictures on it. All of thse crafts are quick and easy for preschoolers. They do require some preparation: cutting out the pictures for children, or cutting apart the puzzles. See instructions, or download the instructions page. You could make your own crafts, but if you want to save time, you can order this lesson or the theme, or all of the downloads for a discount. The lesson is put together for you - the lesson, talk time, activities, crafts, coloring pages, puzzles all in one digital download.

Doubting Thomas / Jesus' Ascension Lesson (For children ages 2-5)

With Fun Crafts, Activities and Coloring Pages for Kids

Jesus Showed His Hands and Feet so the Disciples Could See! He Was Patient with Thomas and Helped Him Believe.

Rebus Story Lesson with Crafts, Activities and "Stickers Concepts Children Learn:

This lesson should be a fun diversion from the usual way the lessons are taught. The prep is also quicker. The lesson is the same for both age groups (Toddler and Preschool). The children will enjoy “helping” you “read” the story. The Talk Time is different for each age group. The Rebus Story Rhymes are also provided again with actions (below the two Talk Times), in case you want to do it that way.

Jesus showed Thomas his hands and feet so he would believe.

These things were written so we would believe.

Jesus will come back the same way he went up!

Supplies: Pictures and Crafts to Use With Lesson:

Bible marked with verses Printed lesson, Activity pages Copies of coloring and craft pages Activity supplies Clouds Decorations

Picture Chart Rebus Story Pages OR Sticker Story Book/Stickers Intro and Talk Time Mother Hen/Chicks Craft

Prep: Intro:

(If all the children in your class already know the Resurrection story, and you want a shorter version, beginning with Jesus’ appearances, use the Children’s Sticker Story Book and Stickers Craft). Print the Rebus Story or Sticker Book, Intro, Talk Time, activities, craft pages that you’ll be using for the lesson.

Tell the children how the lesson works, then go through the Picture Charts to show them what each picture is. (Give kids a chance to guess first). Leave the Picture Charts in view in case you have to refer to them.

Lesson Tips: Bible Verses:

Take your time and read slowly rather than rush through it. As you read through the rhymes on each page, stop at each picture as you point to it, to let the kids tell you what it is. If they don’t remember, tell them what it is. Give children encouragement throughout: For example, “You’re doing great!“, “Excellent!”, “Just a little more”, etc.

Key Verse: John 20:31. Lesson based on verses: Luke 24:13-53; John 20:19-31; Acts 1:6-12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5. Reference verses: John 3:16; Acts 2:36-39; Acts 4:12.

Help Me Feel Welcome Warm-up Activity Let’s Have Snack!

Greet children as they arrive. Show children the Mother Hen craft or Puzzles that will tie in with the lesson. (See Crafts). Give them other choices, as well.

There are four yummy snack ideas provided to give you some options of snack that tie into the lesson.

Intro – You Can Read! Talk Time: Jesus Wants Us to Believe!

You show the children the Picture Charts so they know what each picture is, and explain how they can you “read” the pictures and help you tell the story. The entire story part of the lesson is in rhyming verse. (Intro and Talk Time is not).

The concepts are personalized: Jesus showed up again just for Thomas. Jesus wants each of us to believe too. (You say each child’s name). Then ‘Lord’ and ‘God’ are explained and related to how we make God our ‘God’ and ‘Lord’.

Let’s Rhyme and Read! Let’s See How Jesus Will Come Back!

You read through the rhymes, slowing down to let the children tell you what the pictures are in the Rebus Story as you review the Bible stories of Jesus’ arrest, death, burial and resurrection.

Use the Mother Hen/Chicks Craft as a visual aid to show children how the hen gathers her chicks, which is then tied into how Jesus will gather his people when he comes back!

Rhyme and Read: Jesus’ Appearance Let Me Pray Prayer Time

You continue reciting the rebus rhyme as children “read” the pictures as you review the Bible stories of how Jesus appeared to different disciples.

Children can take turns praying after you or an assistant prays a special prayer asking God to help all of them believe, or your own prayer.

Rhyme and Read: Thomas Believes! Let’s Make Our Own Craft

Children continue to help you “read” the Rebus Story as you recite the rhymes about how Jesus appeared again when the disciples were together and gave special attention to Thomas to help him believe.

Children get a chance to make their own Doubting Thomas / Ascension Rebus Story Sticker Book, the Mother Hen/Chicks Craft or a Mother Hen/Chicks Puzzle.

Rhyme and Read: Jesus Went Up to Heaven! Follow the Leader Game!

Complete the Ascension part of the rhyming verse to tell the children how Jesus went back to heaven, and the promise he made before he went.

Children play Follow the Leader. This is related to the concepts of how we can follow Jesus: listening to him and copying him.

Outline for Sunday School Lesson or Sermon for Children or Adults

How Can Sinners Be Saved?
The Message of Salvation is Seen in Jesus' Response to the Thief on the Cross.

For Preschool-level message of salvation, see the Resurrection lesson, New Life Lesson and Road to Emmaus Lesson

This outline breaks down how we can be saved, starting with Jesus' response to the thief on the cross and tying in other scriptures. Feel free to use it as a starting point for a lesson for children or adults or a sermon outline for primary children through adults. Main Scriptures from: Luke 23; Hebrews 1-4; Romans 1-5

Key verses: Luke 23:32-45

Intro main point: We all sin.
Give examples using humor, skits, or whatever.
Romans 3:23 http://www.biblica.com/en-us/bible/online-bible/niv/romans/3/
First go through the story of Jesus' arrest, questioning, beating, death on the cross, using one
of the gospels.

Main Points to bring out:
1. The second thief believed Jesus was the Son of God. When he said to the first: " But this man
has done nothing wrong." that would mean he knew he was God. Who else does nothing wrong, but
God? He knew Jesus was the 'coming Messiah" and was dying for his sins. Who else would die
unjustly but a Savior? He also said "when you come into your kingdom" which means he knew he was
God. An earthly king rules when he is on earth. But Jesus could still rule after he died (and went to
heaven).

2. He was repentant. He admitted to Jesus (and the other thief on the cross) that he was a sinner,
and that he deserved to die for his sin.

3. He asked Jesus to save him. When he said, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom,
he was asking Jesus to save him, which means he believed that Jesus had the power to save him,
and he was humble enough to ask.
Message of Salvation is Seen in Jesus' Response to the Thief on the Cross

4. Jesus promised him he would be with him in paradise that day. So we see that Jesus did save
him. We see the beautiful picture of God's grace, even while he is being punished for the sins of all of
us, even while it is happening and he has already been beaten and mocked, (having gone through
intense emotional abuse about his identity and false accusations) and searing physical pain -- his flesh
torn and when he is experiencing intense pain for us and taking upon the spiritual separation from God
that would've been even more painful (spiritually).

5. Jesus is our High Priest. Luke 23:45 The curtain in the temple was torn into two, from top to
bottom. The place where the priest would go to make sacrifices for the people's sins. God
miraculously tore down, literally, the separation between God and man when Jesus died on the cross.
Hebrews 4:14-16. Explain how Jesus is now our high priest and he made a way for us to go directly to
God, now that Jesus took care of our sin problem at Calvary.

6. The Take-away: God gives each of us a choice:
Ask, How about you? We are all sinners (verse). Will you be like the criminal who laughs at the
possibility of a loving God being the sacrifice for the people he made? Or will you believe and accept
God's free gift of salvation?

7. Encouragement. Go through Jesus' resurrection and ascension. Jesus didn't stay in the
grave. See scripture tie-ins you could use below.
Scripture Tie-Ins There are many verses that you could use to tie it all together. A few:

Jesus provided purification for sins.
Hebrews 1:3
http://www.biblica.com/en-us/bible/online-bible/niv/hebrews/1/

Jesus is our merciful high priest who provided atonement for sins.
Hebrews 2:14-18

Hebrews 5:7-10
http://www.biblica.com/en-us/bible/online-bible/niv/hebrews/5/

Jesus is the one who can help us.
Hebrews 2:18

We are made right with God by his grace, through faith in Jesus. No amount of 'good deeds' will
cancel out your sin.
Romans 3:21-26
