Bear with armor of God - Sword, word of God

Once again, Sticky Bear and Tickles agreed to meet up again in the park for their last talk about the armor that God gives us. Who can tell me what armor Sticky Bear already has? Let's see if we can name them all. Sticky Bear has his belt, breastplate, helmet, shield, and shoes. Tickles has all that armor, but he also has one more piece of armor. He also has a sword is his hand.

Sticky Bear was all excited, jumping up and down, when he came up to meet Tickles, "Look Tickles, I have my my belt of truth, my breastplate of righteousness, my shoes of peace, my shield of faith, and...my helmet of salvation. Now do you think I am ready to fight the devil?"

Tickles looked serious as he answered, "Well...almost....but not quite....there's one more thing that you need. And Its very important."

Sticky Bear looked a little confused. He asked Tickles, "What else could I possibly need? I have all this armor?!"

All of a sudden, Tickles pulled out a plastic sword. It surprised Sticky Bear, "Wo-o-o! What's that?, he asked.

"Its a sword, Sticky Bear!" Tickles told him, "You need your sword too...it stands for the Word of God." Then he pulled out his little Bible. The sword of the Spirit is God's 'word. And, God's word is the Bible. One of the best ways I know to fight the devil is to use your Bible."

Sticky Bear had a puzzled look on his face and asked, "Oh...I just thought reading my Bible was something I wanted to do to be close to God?"

Tickles toldl him, "Yes, Sticky Bear, it is. You are right. But also, when the devil is trying to get you to do something wrong, if you just stop and think about what the Bible says, it will help you every time. If you don't know very much of the Bible, you can just ask your mom or dad, or even your Sunday school teacher. They will help you learn more."

Sticky Bear had more questions still, "Can you tell me how this works?"

Tickles continued, "Sure...Just like Psalm 119:11 says, (Read verse). When we know what the Bible says, it helps us when we are tempted. Just like last week, when mom asked me to clean my room. I didn't feel like it. I started making excuses and telling her all the reasons I couldn't do it. But, then I remembered the verse that Eph. 6:1 says this: (Read verse). Then I realized I was just being a brat, so I just said, ok, and went to my room and put things away like she asked me to. It was great because then I didn't get into trouble like I usually do when I don't listent. It made mom happy, and then we played a game afterwards."

Sticky Bear was starting to understand, "That makes sense," he said.

Tickles went on, "The Bible is not just for Sunday. We need it every day, huh? There is so much in God's word. It comforts us. It makes us wise. It helps us know what to do when we need to decide on something. It tells us all the things God thinks are important for us to know. But, most of all, it is a love story. It is a true story of how much God loves us. And, the more you read it, and the more you learn about God. And, the more you learn about God, the more you will want to be like Him, and to do what He says. It helps us know how to become a follower of Jesus. I read it as much as I can."

"Wow...maybe I can start to memorize more Bible verses too, Tickles", said Sticky Bear. "I could start with my Bible Memory cards".

"I'll help you, Sticky Bear, Tickles added, "After all, its one of the best ways I know to fight the devil, Sticky Bear!"

Sticky Bear had another idea, "I'll even make a little envelope to put them in, and start memorizing them today! Can I have my sword now? I think I need it", he said laughing.

Tickles gave Sticky Bear his own sword. "Here you go Sticky Bear!" Tickles said.

"Thanks! Now I'm really ready", said Sticky Bear, "Now I have the full armor of God. Now I can stand up under anything the devil tries to throw at me with the armor that God gives me!"

"Yes...now you are finally ready! Just remember to take all of the armor of God with you wherever you go. You don't want to be caught off guard", added Tickles.

Sticky Bear agreed, "No...I sure don't. I'll remember, because now I understand why I need each piece of armor...I need them all...not just some of them. Can we pray one more time, Tickles?, asked Sticky Bear

"Sure", said Tickles. "Let's all bow our heads and close our eyes.

Dear God, Thank you for loving me so much that you give me everything I need to help me be strong against the devil. Help me to learn more of your word, the Bible, and learn more about you.
