GOOD FRIENDS ARE KIND TO EACH OTHER This story is about two little dogs, Rompy-Dog and Stompy-Dog. We can call them Rompy and Stompy for short. Rompy-Dog likes to romp around and tumble a lot. That is why his name is Rompy-Dog. Today Rompy was really excited. He was excited because today it was his turn to bring in something for Show-N-tell. Right now it was play time so he was just doing some sommersaults. After lunch would be show-and-tell. He could hardly wait. He had a hard time sitting through lunch - he was kind of squirmy in his seat. "When was Show-N-Tell?, he thought, "Was it time yet?" Finally, the time came for Show-N-Tell. Rompy's mom had brought in a big box for Rompy's Show-N-Tell. Rompy carried the box to the front of the class. The box was kind of hard to hold because whatever was in the box was moving around. Then somebody whispered, "I hear something move in the box!" And somebody else said, "I wonder what could be in the wiggly box!?" Finnally Rompy-Dog took off the lid and showed the class what was in the box. Bunnies! Cute fluffy, baby bunnies! Each one was a different color. Rompy took them out of the box one-by-one and let his friends hold them. One was all black. One was all white. The other two were black and white with spots. Rompy's friends liked holding and petting the soft, fluffy little bunnies. One of his friends, Stompy, really loved the little black bunny. It was his favorite bunny. He just sat there and played and played with the special little black bunny for a long time. All of his other friends had gone back to their seats, but Stompy-Dog wanted to keep petting the little black bunny. He liked it so much he didn't want to put it down. But, finally the teacher asked Stompy to go back to his seat because now they had to do their ABC lesson. Hard as it was to let go, Stompy gave back the little bunny to Rompy. Then, he helped Rompy put the little bunnies back in the box. Then they put the lid on, put the box away and went back to their seats. During the lesson, Rompy-Dog noticed that Stompy-Dog was not paying attention. "What's wrong, Stompy Dog?", he asked. Stompy-Dog looked sad as he told him, "Well, I can't stop thinking about the little black bunny". Its really cute. I wanted a black bunny for my birthday, but my parents got me a bike instead because I wanted a bike too! But, now I wish I had gotten the bunny." Rompy Dog felt bad for him and told him, "Well, you know what? You can have the little black bunny. I'll give it to you!" Stompy Dog asked, "Really? You would give me the little black bunny? Really-truly?" Rompy Dog laughed a little, "Yes, if your mom will let you keep it, you can have it." Stompy Dog smiled really big because he was sure mom would let him have the bunny. He said, "Thanks Rompy! That's really kind of you. You are a real friend. Thanks a lot!". So, after class when their moms came to pick them up, Stompy told his mom all about Rompy's Show-N-Tell, and the cute little bunnies. He told her all about his favorite bunny - the little black bunny, and how fun it was to play with it. He also told her how Rompy said he would give him the little black bunny if he was allowed to keep it. "Please, mom...please...can I have it?", he begged. Just then Rompy came by with the little black bunny. Here's the little bunny. Are you allowed to have it?" Rompy asked? Stompy's mom answered, "Well, if you promise to take good care of it and feed it every day, you can have it". "Wow! Thanks mom...yes, I'll take really good care of it. I promise." So Rompy gave Stompy the little black bunny. Stompy was so excited! He held the little bunny in his lap while he and his mom went to the Pet store to get some bunny food and a bunny-house. Then Stompy had an idea. He asked his mom if they could buy an extra bag of bunny food to give to Rompy for his three bunnies. "That's a good idea! I think he would like that." So they got two bags of bunny food, one for Stompy's bunny, and one for Rompy's bunnies. Then they took it home and fed it some of the bunny food and gave it some water. Stompy named his bunny Honey Bunny because Honey is sweet, and that would remind him of the sweet, kind thing Rompy did when he gave him the bunny. "Now I will always remember how kind Rtompy was to give me the bunny." Stompy said. "Yes, it was a very kind thing for Rompy to do, wasn't it?" said mom. "Yep, Stompy replied, "and now I'm going to do something kind for him too. I'm going to give him a bag of bunny food for his bunnies!" "Yes, that's very nice of you. I think he will like that a lot. I can see you two are really good friends now" replied mom. "Yes...he is a real friend, said Stompy, "a kind friend; and I like being kind too." THE END. |
