The four accounts of the Bible story of Jesus' Resurrection: Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-14; Luke 24:1-44; John 20:1-29

I asked Mom what we were celebrating today. She told me, "Well, we celebrate the "Res-ur-rec-tion of Jesus".That means Jesus was raised to life again. Then she added, "Lets start from the beginning so you can understand it a little better." And this is what she told me:

It all started when God made the first people, Adam and Eve. God loved them so much. He gave them the whole garden to enjoy, except there was one rule that he gave them. He gave them this rule to protect them. He told them they could enjoy the whole garden, except they could not eat the fruit from one tree. They could not eat from the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". And, can you guess what happened after that? That's right. They ate the fruit from that tree. They didn't listen to God, and they didn't trust God. They ate the fruit anyway, even though God had told them not to.

Now there was sin in the world. Now they no longer enjoy the same closeness with God. And, they could no longer enjoy the garden once had sinned. They felt bad and tried to hide from God. And, since they didn't obey God, now they would die. Death is the punishment for sin. You see, sinful people cannot live with God, who is holy.

It makes God sad when people sin. He loves us and wants to be friends with us. He wants us to live with Him forever, just like he wanted from the beginning when He made Adam and Eve. So do you know what He did next? God loved us so much that he made another way for us to be close to Him. In Old Testament Bible Times, God told people they could sacrafice innocent animals to pay for their sins. This plan was good, but there needed to be a perfect sacrafice in order for sins to be taken away completely. So, the Perfect sacrifice was made. Do you know what that was?

Do you remeber the Christmas story we learned a while ago? The one about baby Jesus. Well, that was all part of God's plan. He sent is only Son, Jesus, to the earth. Only Jesus could be the perfect sacrifice because He lived a perfect life. That's right. Jesus never sinned. He never did anything wrong. He did what God wanted completely. And Jesus loved us so much that He was willing to suffer many things. He suffered so much he even died on the cross to pay for our sins once and for all. Jesus died on the cross and was buried in a tomb (which is a big rock). When Jesus died on the cross, he was taking the punishment for our sins. He was taking the punishment that we deserved. It was a very sad day for all of Jesus' friends. But you know what? The story didn't there! God changed everything. He turned something really sad into something really happy! This is what happened:

Three days later, on very early in the morning, Jesus' friends went to visit the tomb. But, guess what? Jesus wasn't there! What the angel told them was true. Jesus had risen from the dead! He was alive! And, by rising to life again, He showed us that we can live forever too, if we believe in Him. So, that is why today iis so happy! If we believe that Jesus died for our sins, we can live forever too!

We celebrate today because Jesus didn't stay in the tomb. He rose again! God raised Him from the dead. Now He lives with God the Father. Jesus gave up his life so that we could have life too. He did this because he loved us so much. Even though we were sinners, and were far away from him, he made a way for us to be close to Him again.

So won't you come close to Go?. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, ask Him to come into your heart and forgive your sins. Turn from your sin and ask God to lead you. God won't leave you all alone. He will send you his Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you. He gives us the strength to follow him and not do wrong things. When you believe in Jesus and decide to follow him for the rest of your life, He stays by your side and helps you want to do the right things.

"Wow!, said Huggy Lamb. Jesus really does love people a lot, doesn't He? So that's why, today, everybody is so happy and celebrating! That really is happy! That is so happy it makes me feel like doing flips! (Make Huggy Lamb 'do a flip') Whee! " I want to go to heaven and be with Jesus too! Don't you?"

The word Easter was removed from this devotion because the truth was realized that the Easter celebration is a pagan holiday. So BKFZ chooses not to use the word Easter in its devotions and lessons. It may take me a while to complete this. We will leave the file names the same and the words in our descriptions the same so people can find our free devotions and Sunday school lessons about Jesus' birth. I know this is controversial, and that its hard to give up "beloved holidays", or disappoint relattives, but please prayerfully consider the chapter of Jeremiah 10 also (regarding Christmas trees). There are other options: You could make up your own family Christian holidays to celebrate different biblical events or plan to get together with family members at different, less hectic times. If you want more information, there are videos about the deception of Easter or the pagan roots of Easter on popular free video websites.
Bible Accounts of the Easter story of Jesus' Resurrection:

Matthew 28:11 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men. 5 The angel answered the women, "Don't be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying. 7 Go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."
8 They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word. 9 As they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" They came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid. Go tell my brothers * that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me." (WEB)

Mark 16:1 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3 They were saying among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" 4 for it was very big. Looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back.
5 Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed. 6 He said to them, "Don't be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him! 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He goes before you into Galilee. There you will see him, as he said to you.'"
8 They went out,* and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had come on them. They said nothing to anyone; for they were afraid. 9 †Now when he had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 When they heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, they disbelieved. 12 After these things he was revealed in another form to two of them, as they walked, on their way into the country. 13 They went away and told it to the rest. They didn't believe them, either. (WEB)
