Intro: Did you all have fun listening to each other's secrets? Its fun to tell secrets sometimes, isn't it? Our lesson today is about secrets. Let's listen close to learn all we can.

(1) In the army, the commander makes a plan for the soldiers. His plan is Top Secret! He tells his soldiers he plan and then he says, (Whisper) Sh-h-h-h! Don't tell anybody. We don't want the enemy to know our plan! (Whisper) Look what we have here! (Hold up folded piece of paper with numbers on it). This is our secret code. (2,3 Show cover of locked booklet) This code will let us open their Top Secret plan! (whisper) Who wants to read the secret code for me? (Let a child volunteer to open the folded paper and read the numbers (Have your assistant help them read the numbers). Touch the numbers on the lock, and open the Top Secret Booklet). Oh, look! The Top Secret booklet is really special! It is from the commander. It tells us all the secrets of his plan! Ithas the name of the commander. And it tells us the names of the soldiers who will go on the special mission! (Point to the names). A special mission is a very special job that the commander has for his soldiers! Let's keep this in a safe place so their enemy doesn't find out their secrets! (Give booklet to your assistant to put away).

(4 - 10 Show cover of locked booklet) Did you know that in God's army, our commander has told us secrets too? (Read 1 Cor. 4:1). We don't even have to be all grown up! He thinks children are so special that he shares his secrets with children too! (Point to children in picture). (Hold up the second folded paper with letters on it). Let's use the new secret code and see what the Top Secrets are in God's Army! (Let child open second folded paper and read the letters. Your assistant can help them. Touch letters on the lock, then open the booklet). (Turn page to 5) God was so kind to share his secrets with us! He has told us all his secrets about his Son Jesus! He shares the secrets of his plan with us. His plan was to send Jesus to die on the cross so our sins could be forgiven! (6) And, he shares his secret that he wants a special, close friendship with all of his children - each one that he made! (7) And he shares his secret that he has a special purpose for each and every soldier who has joined his army! (Point to children in picture).

When the commander gives the soldiers the Top Secret, he tells them what their special mission is also. Can anyone tell me who our commander is? (Let children answer). God is! Right! Does anybody remember what a mission is? (Let children answer). Very good. A mission is the very special job that the commander gives the soldiers to do. God gives us a very special mission too! Before Jesus went back up to heaven, he told his friends that he had a very special job for all who follow him. (Read Mark 16:15). (8) The special job, that Jesus gave each and every one of us, is to go and tell people all over the world about him! (9, 10) We can tell people who live in our country. (Put kid sticker on your country). And people who live close by. (Place kid sticker on nearby country). And we can also go and tell the people who live far away! (Place kid stickers on other countries). God loves everybody! And he wants everybody to know his secrets! But, how will they know unless somebody tells them? (8 again) So instead of keeping it a secret, God wants us to share his secrets with others!

(11) Sometimes, we get scared to do our special mission. Sometimes people make fun of us when we speak about Jesus. Sometimes people who don't know Jesus want to hurt those who love Jesus. But God gives us lots of help! When Jesus told us what our very special mission was, he also gave us a promise! (Read Matt. 28:20). (12) Jesus doesn't leave us to do our mission all by ourselves. He gives us lots of things to help us. He gives us step-by-step instructions: Its called the Bible! (Point to child reading Bible). He also gives us a way to talk to him anytime at all -- when we are in trouble, or if we just want to spend time with him. We can talk to him by praying! (Point to child praying). (13) And, he gives us other soldiers to help us too! (14) And, best of all, he gives us the Holy Spirit! (6 again) The Holy Spirit is the helper Jesus sends to help us every day! We can't see the Holy Spirit, but we know he is with us. He helps us know what to say when we tell others about him. (12 again) The Holy Spirit also comforts us when we are sad. And, he gives us power to live the way God wants us to live! Isn't that wonderful? He is our friend who helps us whenever we ask God for help! Let's have snack, then we can talk about some different ways we can tell others about Jesus!

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

Let's talk about some different ways we can be part of telling others about Jesus. (14) One way we can tell others about Jesus is to invite your friends and neighbors to come to church with you! (Point to kids at church). Another thing we could do is to give people Bibles. (Add Bible sticker). (15) You can also pray for each person who you would like to tell about Jesus. (Point to bear praying). You could even write stories about God's love for others to read! (Point to bear writing). (13 again) But, the most important thing is showing God's love to others! Here's what Jesus told us: (Read John 13:34-35). When we do kind things for others, and help poor people, then everyone will see the love you are showing! Then they might ask you about God. That would be a good time for you to tell them about God and about Jesus! Then they might even want to join God's army! And one of God's Top Secrets is that he wants all people to come to know him as their very own Lord and Savior! Let's pray now and ask God to help us tell others about him. Later we have some fun activities and crafts to do.

Transition: Let's bow our heads, close our eyes and fold our hands. I'll say the words first and give you time to say them after me if you'd like to.
PRAYER: Dear God, And, most of all...
Thank you for Please help me show
sharing your secrets with me! that I love you
Please help me to know by showing love to others.
that you are with me In Jesus' name,
as I tell others about you. Amen.
Transition: Now we have some fun crafts and activities that go with this lesson. Go To Activities. Go to Crafts.
